Cave exploring
A gem of nature with human touch!
Such is the case of the Cave of Saint Sophia Mylopotamos, where the creation of nature was united in perfect harmony with human work, which is a pleasant surprise for the visitor immediately upon entering the cave, facing the wall with the beautiful Byzantine frescoes 13th century. The temple a few meters from the entrance, has an entrance in the center dividing it into two parts. On the left we see the Hagia Sophia with the daughters of Love, Hope and Faith and to the right of the Virgin Mary, Christ and St. John.
Mylopotamos, considered the most beautiful village, so visitors to the cave have the opportunity to enjoy a coffee or a meal under the shade of ancient trees. Moving immediately after the temple on the left we see the Nyidrio of Hagia Sophia in halls with stalactites and stalagmites, putting more emphasis on the sanctity. The cave is 550 meters tourist route full of rooms, corridors with magnificent natural formations. The cave was first explored by the pair Petrohilos. In earlier times served as a refuge for the inhabitants of the area from pirate raids.
